New DHL Express Estonia Air and Road Freight Terminal and Office Building Completed in Airport City’s Southern Area

Today marks the official opening of the new DHL Express Estonia air and road freight terminal and office building, a significant milestone in the development of Airport City’s southern area and the continued expansion of the Tallinn Airport business campus.

The new facility has a total floor area of 7,260 m², comprising 5,700 m² of freight terminal space and 1,560 m² of office premises. The complex also includes a courier loading facility and a car park with 150 spaces for employees and visitors. The building has been designed and constructed to achieve a LEED Gold environmental certification, incorporating energy-efficient and sustainable solutions throughout.

The project was developed by Airport City AS, constructed by Astlanda Ehitus OÜ, and completed in close cooperation with DHL Express Estonia AS and Tallinn Airport.

“The new DHL Express Estonia air and road freight terminal is the second building to be completed in the southern area and an excellent example of our strategic goal – to create a modern and sustainable business environment around the airport,” said Veiko Keerberg, Chairman of the Management Board of Airport City AS.
“Our collaboration with DHL Express Estonia has been inspiring, and the result speaks for itself – an energy-efficient, well-designed building that combines state-of-the-art logistics solutions with contemporary architecture. Developments like this strengthen Tallinn Airport’s role as one of the region’s key logistics hubs.”

“Developing Airport City helps expand the airport’s revenue base and creates new opportunities for investment in infrastructure and passenger comfort,” said Riivo Tuvike, Chairman of the Management Board of Tallinn Airport.
“The new DHL Express Estonia terminal is a clear example of how the airport’s surrounding area is evolving into a diverse and internationally competitive business environment.”

“The opening of the new DHL Express Estonia air and road freight terminal demonstrates our commitment to innovation, growth and the future,” said Kristina Laaneots, Member of the Management Board of DHL Express Estonia.
“This is an important milestone for our company, strengthening our position in the logistics sector and enabling us to serve our customers and society even better. Equipped with a fully automated sorting line, the new terminal will be a centre where technology and logistics meet, and where new ideas and solutions are born. Our new facility represents the future – where freight handling is faster, more efficient and more sustainable.”

“The client set the target of achieving at least a LEED Silver certification, which meant that energy efficiency and sustainable solutions were at the heart of our work,” said Kaupo Kolsar, Chairman of the Management Board of Astlanda Ehitus AS.
“Cooperation between all parties went exceptionally well, and the result is a forward-looking facility that supports both the tenant’s operations and the development of Tallinn Airport’s business campus.”

Airport City – the gateway for aviation and logistics growth in Northern Europe

The southern area development of Airport City is part of Tallinn Airport’s long-term vision to create a modern and sustainable business district around the runway.
Together with the newly completed FedEx Express Estonia terminal and the Magnetic MRO 10,000 m² aircraft maintenance hangar complex set for completion by the end of the year, Airport City is rapidly becoming one of the most important aviation and logistics hubs in the region.
